Taftazani; was he Ash arite or Matridite?

Sunnites are divided into two sects of Ash’arites and Matridites. Although these two agree on basic issues, there are so many doctrinal differences between them. There are disputes among Sunnite scholars about some religious personalities, being Matridite or Ash’arite. One of them is Sa’dodin Masood Ibn-Omar Taftazani who was a wise and knowing religious scholar. Referring to Taftazani’s ideas, this article studies his school and concludes that he was Ash’arite. His support for Ash’arites is a case in point.
