Lyrical Literature and Examples of It in Pre-Islam Iran

Author(s):
Abstract:
When man started to know himself and started to communicate with his fellow human beings, he got to know music and poetry. In primitive societies, music and sound were related to other aspects of life, such as: agriculture, harvesting, occupations, upbringing of children, war, treatment of patients, birth celebrations, maturity and death.Poems and lyrics are clear manifestations of human expressions which are reflected in the sounds of birds and animals; they are reflections of nature’s most effective feelings and emotions.Lyric, music, and song were related to the human soul and feeling from the beginning of time. Every human being cries alone; he voices his desires and needs alone; he also falls in and out of love alone. All these are manifested in the form of art; an art which may be primitive and very simple. This can lead to the production of lyric literature.Lyrical literature is the huge heritage of all humanity. It goes without saying that this kind of literature had its undeniable manifestations in Iran.In this research, an attempt is made to give a comprehensive definition of lyric literature. Then, by relying on findings and research done by scholars, there will be a treatment of the concepts of lyrical literature in the Pre-Islamic texts.
