A survey about the situation of video games clubs and their manager's views

During recent years, computer games have attracted many attentions in forms of critics, researches, opinions and studies. There have been many questions of whether or not computer games leave negative impacts on children or if the society has been over-reacting about it. The certain fact is that due to the vast attention and popularity of video and computer games, the potential impacts must be considered and at least, there should be some researches about it. Among many approaches on computer games, some have considered the place of games too. Today, games are not provided only within homes or public places but parts of computer games are performed inside places with no resemblance to public places of games; in places which is called video clubs. This paper is trying to study the most popular games of children and adolescents by taking a different view; the type of game, behavior of players, time and amount of turning to the place, location and problems of video club managers. This is a qualitative research. The statistical society was managers of video clubs. The open and deep review was conducted to collect the opinions of 39 managers of video clubs. In addition, observation along with participation is used for data gathering about the video clubs and behavior of players. In studying the situation clubs, the probability sampling is used to determine sample units. On that basis, the researcher studied the list of authorized video clubs and found 162 units. The systematic sampling is used and by using Cochran formula to measure the size of sample, 30 clubs were determined and were selected at random from the list of video clubs in Tehran. Since there are unauthorized video clubs in Tehran too; 9 video clubs in various districts in Tehran whose names were not included in the authorized clubs list were selected too. The data was analyzed based on descriptive statistics in this part.
