Message:
Abstract:
The hypotheses are made according to review of literature and theories about social pathology. This is a survey research and questionnaires are used for collecting data. The sample consists of 350 beggars and 72 people who helped them in 2005-2006 The results show that about two third of beggars have stated that they tend to quit begging, they have stated that the most important requirement to quit begging is to find a job with a better income. The findings related to helpers show that over two third of helpers, help the beggars sympathetically. most of them have stated that they won’t help the beggars just if they can make sure that the beggars are not in need. The results of inferential findings show that the independent variables such as marriage status, addiction records of beggars, other income sources, religiousness, education, physical and psychological health, informal control, financial and mental encouragement, value orientation, laziness, weakness of conscience, beggary records of family, rate of religiousness in the family, family supports and structural pressure feeling are related to readiness to quit begging.
