Efficient Algorithm Proposed in Order to Generate Non- Uniform Ground Motion for Canyon Site Structures

Abstract:
Huge structures such as dams, bridges and power plants which are located in canyon sites, are subjected to on-uniform ground motion and so their conventional uniform dynamic analysis may lead to unreasonable responses. In order to non-uniform dynamic analysis of these kinds of structures, the variation of seismic loading is a main challenge. In this research an efficient algorithm based on the numerical analysis of seismic waves(P,SH and SV)scattering and their combination with appropriate proportion is proposed using one point available accelerogram, to generate non-uniform seismic acceleration time series in any arbitrary point of the site. Efficiency of this algorithm has been shown by regeneration of the 24 October 2007 earthquake accelerograms along the Shafaroud dam site canyon.
