Feasibility of Immobilized Concrete by Nano TiO2 for the Treatment of Phenolic Wastewater

Abstract:
In this research, treatment of synthesized wastewater containing phenol by TiO2 nano film photocatalyst immobilized on concrete surfaces was investigated. The reactor volume for contaminate tank and aeration zone were 40 L and 10 L respectively. Three 8 watts UV lamps were placed 10 cm above the concrete surfaces as source of Irradiation. Phenol degradation was less than 10% when UV lamps were turn off, but Removal efficiency of photocatalyst process in 4 hr irradiation time and phenol concentration range between 25-500 mg/L was more that 80%. The kinetics of photocatalytic reactions has been determined to follow the Langmuir– Hinshelwood model. SEM and EDAX analyses were approved nano TiO2 particles on concrete surfaces after several operation of process.
