A Theoretical Study of India's Energy Security Approach in Central Asia

Message:
Abstract:
India has made great efforts to join the club of the world's most powerful industrialized nations during the past few decades. But one of the most important challenges facing this rapidly industrializing country is its shortage of energy resources. India is one of the biggest energy consumers in the world while it does not have sufficient domestic energy resources. This has created concerns for Indian statesmen, who need to provide necessary security for production and transfer of energy from outside the country. The main hypothesis of this research is that India's efforts to secure access to energy are influenced by the structure of the international system. Therefore, the diplomacy of interdependence is transforming into constructivist policy and a collaborative model based on global values in the modern era. These changes in India's energy policies and their impact on relations between India and the countries of the Caspian basin are explored in this article as a case study.
