Abstract:
Omar Khayyam, in his outstanding poetry has unveiled the mysteries of life and philosophy of existence. He narrates his inner feeling with such words and dictums that make listeners or readers ecstatic. In other words, the poet's sore heart thinks world in a way that others view it in the same way. He talks bout those distressed thoughts through quatrains and arranges his innate thought into pearls of words. He leaves his confused readers free in the wander land, with full of doubt and distrust. He repeatedly cries out that he has come to this world unwillingly and will pass away unwillingly. Most of these ambiguous and complex queries are also found in the work of contemporary Arab poet, Ilia Abu Mazi. Like Khayyam, he chose his course toward the fort of poems and literature full of rocks and thorns. He also tries to explore human problems and mysteries of this world and remains confused in this wonderful in the desert of doubt unwillingly. One can say Khayyam's thought is manifested in Abu Mazi. Through a comparative study, the current paper tries to investigate Khayyam's influence on Abu Mazi's work.
