SYNTACTIC AND ORTHOGRAPHIC DISTORTION IN AL-SIHAH LEXICON

Al-Sihah lexicon (Taj-ul-Loghat wa-Sihah-ul-Arabiyeh) written by Esmail bin Hamad Johari Nishabouri is considered to be one of the ancient and the most valuable Arabic lexicon that has been accomplished by Iranian scholars.As a valuable and distinguished work, Al-Sihah was center of attraction right from its emergence hence; was welcomed by scholars, laureate and linguists. Its value is to such an extent that more than 160 books have so far been written on it.The current paper however comes across various flaws in this particular lexicon while doing an in-depth review of a published copy of the same. Accordingly, the defects include syntactic and orthographic distortion that indisputably do not seem part o this valuable work. And since invulnerabilities of writing or publishing in a lexicon like Al-Sihah lead to bewilderment and confusion in understanding the definition of words, the present paper tries to pinpoint to the existing damages.
