The Kia Dynasty and the Reasons of its Fall in Gilan

Abstract:
During the 8th to 10th centuries, the regional government of Kia dynasty had ruled on part of Gilan called “Beih Pish”. The natural situation of Gilan and political circumstances coincident with the collapse of Ilkhanids made it easy for them to gain the power. The construction of their reign was in the basis of Shiite religion, feudalism and militarism and the governor had the highest religious and political place.This essay intends to study the reasons of Kia dynasty’s fall in Gilan territory. To achieve this goal, information was collected on the basis of library method and then analyzed on the base of historical methodology relied on description, reconciliation and analysis of original sources.The Kia dynasty gained power with the support of “Mar’ashi Sadats” of Mazandaran and with producing and trading of silk, enhanced the economic power and after beating political and religious opponents ruled for two centuries. Eventually, after Safavid’s aim for gaining and developing political and economical power, the Kia dynasty fell in 1000 AD.
