The History of the Historians of Pre-Wahhābi Najd

Abstract:
Najd is a remote and somewhat featureless region of central Arabia. In the eleventh to twelfth century, when Mohammad Ibn Abdu-Alwahhāb’s movement was getting started, it was inhabited by an Arab population of modest means and predominantly tribal structure. In the present study, the writer is going to provide an outline of the conditions and the traditions regarding Najd history writing prior to the rise of the Wahhābi state in the middle of the twelfth century.
