Position of Baghdad Shurta Institution and Its Power (from Establishment till Early Buyid Period)

Abstract:
Baghdad shurta was one of the most important governmental institutions in Iraq region during Abbasid caliphate. Alluding to the story of the formation of this institution and some of its special features, this article is to consider different political motivations for being in control of Baghdad Police; influence of different authorities and politicians and their politics on it; backgrounds and ways through them political changes and competitions affected the prevalent procedures of its management, such as choosing its chief; and its fields of activity and duties.
