A Survey of Scientific Productions in the Discipline of International Relations

Using bibliographic records from the ISI database, this paper seeks to give a complete view of scientific products in the field of international relations. The time period considered in this study is 2000-2009. Findings revealed 34685 scientific products indexed in ISI database in the field of international relations during the period of 2000-2009. Results indicated that "Freedman" and "Ikenberry" with 140 and 135 products, respectively, (0.79 %) hold the first rank in producing scientific works in the realm of international relations. "London School of Economics and Political Science" holding 494 records (1.42%), "Harvard University" holding 391 records (1.13%), and "King's College London" holding 370 records (1.07%) have been the most active institutes, worldwide, in the field of international relations. The trend of scientific production also showed some onward increase in products since 2005. It should be noted that among all journals studied, "International Affairs", having published 8.86% of the total social products, has earned the first rank in publishing products in the field of international relations. On the other hand, it revealed that Iran’s share in the world scientific products in the field of the international relations has been only 15 which is equal to 0.043% of the total products in the same field. "Sariolghalam" and "Barzegar" are known as the most productive researchers in the said field in Iran. From among 15 products in Iran, 5 works have been published in the journal of "Middle East Policy". Finally, the article entitled "The paradox of Iran`s Nuclear consensus" which has received 2 citations is considered as the most cited and influential Iranian article in international relations arena.
