The Idiosyncratic Features of Iran's Underdevelopments

Abstract:
In understanding causes of development and underdevelopment of Iran, economic variables are commonplace. Globally, the role of culture in tracing the philosophical, theoretical and conceptual sources of development is highly emphasized. Growth development, industrialization and applications of techniques in everyday life require a certain view of universe. In both the West and Asia, this element is common. Iranian culture portrays itself as a multifaceted and colorful formality with intricate strata. On the surface, the culture manifests politeness, literary command, curtesy, fabulous lecturing, lasting theatrics, ethical and appealing appearance. However, there exist intricate alleys underneath typical Iranian behavior in an indirect and subtle ways that inhibit national development. Iranians often enjoy plushy lifestyles but verbally deny them, that they here the capacity to change worldviews several times a day, that they entertain people in their surroundings and flatter them with no genuine belief inside; That self-criticism is virtually absent in their discourse and finally that they view life as a short term phenomenon. Such idiosyncrasies prevent fundamental, long-term and strategic undertakings. The social consequences are what sociologists call atomization and lack of social cohesion. This article looks into ten subtle cultural idiosyncrasies of Iranians in pinpointing national underdevelopment.
