dy of Individualism of Children in Family

Abstract:
The Society of Iran has been undergone extensively in the cultural and social changes during the recent decades. These changes have particularly been remarkable in family. One of these changes is individualism. This paper has tried to examine the rate of Individualism of children. Roots of this concept in Sociology refer to works of Tocqueville, Tonnis and Durkheim then many sociologists like: Lenski, Giddens, Triandis and Hofstede have examined this concept in various fields including family. Individualism has been classified according to the literature review in different dimensions: positive individualism; innovation, experiment, independent thinking, and negative individualism; enjoyment, Autonomy, violate the rights of the other people. This study has been accomplished through social survey in which was applied PPS sampling methods in districts of 3 and 7 of Tehran with covering 398 cases. Used statistical techniques include: frequency dispersion and central indices, factor analysis, variance analysis and F Test. The findings indicate that there is an average of individualism among children of studied families. There is no significant relationship between sex, age group, education level and individualism.
