The problem of the present research is to outline the epistemic realm of ethics of interpretation. What epistemic domains are included in the ethics of exegesis? “Ethics of belief,” “ethics of research,” and “ethics of science” are domains developed within the moral doctrines and the realm of applied ethics. “Ethics of interpretation” is part of applied ethics focused on moral principles and maxims of the process of exegesis. The act of “interpretation” can, as an action consequent upon the interpreter’s exegetical belief, be in the domain of “ethics of belief,” and can, as a problem-centered process with its own theoretical framework and method, be relevant to “ethics of research.” Moreover, as a scientific discipline, it can be relevant to “ethics of science”. That is to say, interpretation sometimes means an argumentation for, or justification of, the exegete’s beliefs, and is sometimes a research, and sometimes a science! “Ethics of exegesis” can have a similar application space to any of these domains. Therefore, the thesis of this research is that, based on various conceptions of the science of “exegesis,” “ethics of exegesis” can be subsumed under “ethics of belief,” “ethics of research,” and “ethics of science.” The relation between ethics of exegesis and any of these disciplines involves presuppositions which we discuss in this research.

In recent centuries, scholars of various strands have found interest in finding about behavioral actions. The fact that human beings care for others and tend to help them has led some scholars to ask what the ultimate motivation and goal of these human behaviors are. Thus, two intellectual approaches emerged: “egoism” and “altruism.” Egoists trace motivations for philanthropist human behaviors to personal interests, while altruists think that humans are able to do actions the ultimate goal of which is to provide the well-being and comfort of others. In this paper, we deal with the views of Daniel C. Batson, an altruist psychologist. Batson offers an empirical thesis of altruism-sympathy to account for human philanthropist behaviors, challenges egoistic views, and supports a version of psychological altruism. Batson claims that a feeling of sympathetic concern or care for the other leads to an altruistic motivation for helping and providing the well-being of the other. Batson’s method is positivistic. He tries to substantiate his thesis via a rigorous empirical experiment. Batson’s altruism is a type of motivation, rather than an action, and it does not necessarily lead to a moral action, although it is a requirement of a good society. In this paper, we explain and analyze Batson’s view with a descriptive-analytic approach.

Today, organizational requirements have inevitable effects on our individual and social life and behavior, and thereby, they will serve as grounds for many of our free actions and acquired characteristics. In such a situation, it is very likely that moral responsibility for such actions and characteristics is to a large extent on the shoulders of organizations and social institutes, rather than individuals and groups. Organizations and social institutes are morally responsible in virtue of their legal personality, and the obligation of pursuing and ensuring the fulfilment of the requirements of such responsibility is on these organizations and institutes. Thus, the notion of “management ethics” comes to be formed—a notion I revisit in this paper first with a descriptive-analytic method and a new viewpoint, and I will then reply to objections that might be levelled at the necessity of an ethics for management given practical features of moral problems of management, and then I consider and analyze various versions of the necessity of morality for managers in the literature of applied ethics in this area by adopting an Islamic approach. As a result of this analysis, I have sought to modify functionalist and purely utilitarian ideas to arrive at an authentic unqualified view of the necessity of an ethics for management.

Ontology of reasons is a topic in the broader area of the theory of reasons and is concerned with the kind of things reasons are. Factualism is one of the main views here, which treats reasons as facts. After some preliminary points, considerations for and against Factualism are reviewed. Although an attractive view, critics ascribe some unacceptable commitments to Factualism, including the thought that explanation is non-factive and that reasons play no causal role in action. In response, it is argued that by distinguishing motivating reasons from explanatory reasons, Factualism can find some way to respond to these objections or explain them away. Then, some considerations behind this distinction are explored, showing that the distinction is interesting regardless of the current debate, and Factualism's recourse to the distinction is not an ad hoc solution. Though the distinction helps Factualism to deal with some objections, we do not claim that the distinction alone is enough to respond to all objections to Factualism. This is the task of the last and the main section. The paper is closed by some concluding remarks.

A moral system is a system governing its followers and organizing their behaviors and volitional characters in their four-way relationships (with God, with themselves, with others, and with the environment). Every moral system involves elements and components, the chief among which are moral codes. The main moral command in the Christian and Catholic moral system is the moral code of love. The code suggests that humans should love God, themselves, and others without a consideration of any reward. According to followers of Catholicism, the moral code emancipates humans from slavery and leads them to the position of children of God. The moral code is said to have as its advantage the happiness and peace among people. In this paper, I initially explain the moral code of love by drawing upon religious sources in Catholic Christianity, and then analyze and criticize it.

End in ethics is an important issue investigated in normative ethics and meta-ethics. The paper considers the relation between numerous and various relations by drawing upon issues in Western moral philosophy and Quranic verses via a consideration of the concept of end and issues such as plurality or unity of end and difference of ends in normative theories. It finally analyzes the end as appearing in the Quran and enumerates its parameters. The hierarchical system of instances of ends in Western moral philosophy seems to culminate in pleasure, whereas what is referred to as an “end” in Western moral philosophy appears in the Quranic literature in terms of “falāḥ” (felicitousness) and “fawz” (success). Given semantics of falāḥ and fawz, the former is a preliminary to the latter, and hierarchically speaking, the latter counts as the highest and the last Quranic end. Falāḥ involves emancipation and liberation from evils, and serves as a solution for the desired result. However, fawz is the desired result that follows falāḥ. It leads to liberation from suffering, achievement of divine mercy, and eternal enjoyment of everlasting Heavenly blessings, and the highest instance of fawz is the achievement of the positon of “divine pleasure.” However, it is possible to offer a non-teleological analysis of such Quranic issues.
