The present study investigated economic load dispatch problem, taking into consideration valve point loading effect using an imperialist competitive algorithm. To portray the efficiency of the proposed method, the algorithm was applied to two popular test systems in the area including 13 and 40 thermal units. The obtained results from the algorithm were compared to those of other algorithms which indicated the efficiency and response of the proposed algorithm in solving economic load dispatch problem.

An adaptive hysteresis current controller for single-phase single-stage photovoltaic central inverters is presented. The designed controller is able to eliminate harmonic distortion and to control switching frequency and to inject the current into power grid with good power quality. The simulation model of the system is developed in SIMULINK/MATLAB environment. The controller is found effective in obtaining the desired goal when the switching frequency is adequately high which leads to the synchronization of power grid voltage and inverter current and near to unity power factor.

Today’s world is encountering with Water, Energy and Climate change crisis, population growth and environmental disasters such as greenhouse gases and global warming have, created an ever-increasing need for water and energy sources, that all of them are projected and determined in energy crisis and global Total comparative outlook of energy, helps for encountering the world’s urgent condition thus planning new strategies and ways of interaction and technologies like energy audit, electrical transportation and renewable sources of power can help us in this matter of interact with this crisis that is leading us to unpleasant condition. In this paper a new comparative outlook “CO” over the world’s 2030 energy portfolio and analytic effects of energy over the water reservoirs and climate change is discussed in a comparative and analytic literature method, the “CO” is output of analytic compare of International Energy Agency “IEA”, Shell, British Petroleum “BP”, World Energy Council “WEC” and Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change “IPCC”, unlike the others, in this paper energy is considered as the set of all world’s important factors that are affected by energy and effect on it too and it is tried to mention this effects along the status of energy in 2030.

This paper presents the application of artificial neural networks (ANNs) in direct torque control (DTC) with space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) of a three-phase doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). This technique are considered in order to reduce rotor flux ripple, harmonic distortion of stator current and electromagnetic torque. Also, the performances of the DTC with ANN controllers are test and compared to DTC with proportional integral (PI) controllers. The results obtained in the Matlab/Simulink environment using robustness tests show that the DTC-ANN is efficient, has superior dynamic performance and is more robust during parameter variations.

One of the ways to increase the reliable and stable performance of power grids and reduce customer shutdowns is the proper planning of power grid maintenance. Many studies have been carried out in the area of selecting the best and most effective maintenance technique for each electrical equipment.  However, in order to ensure the successful design and implementation of these maintenance methods, it is required that a model be provided for assessing the status of power grids in terms of maintenance objectives. This paper proposes an appropriate and comprehensive strategic map based on a balanced scorecard model (BSC) with the help of technical knowledge and experience of the experts. The proposed strategic map describes maintenance strategies and plans for power transmission companies from four perspectives: financial, customer, internal processes, learning and growth along with strategic issues. Using the proposed method managers can identify the maintenance deficiencies by indexing and targeting strategic issues and their ongoing monitoring. At last, the prioritization can be done to eliminate the difficulties. Results show that by continuously evaluating all aspects of the transmission networks maintenance, increase in system availability can be observed.

The operation of turbine generator of the thermal units leads to the high heat in the shaft and other rotating elements. Considering the related thermodynamic constraints, a controlled reduction of rotational speed is required to protect the shaft against the overheating and the axial deflection. As a common practice in current power systems, the “Turning Gear”, which is a mechanical protection system, is used for this purpose. Due to the costly maintenance and economic losses caused by the shaft deflection that may cause the generator outage, this research proposes a parallel protection for the shaft of turbine generator using the control of armature in-feed and excitation system. The success of this approach is not only confirmed by the simulation studies, but also consistent with the experimental test results.
