    Introduction
It seems that by determining how able to perform daily life activities and identifying the factors that affect it, it is possible to design appropriate care and rehabilitation programs to return these patients to the community more quickly. Therefore, this study was performed to determine the status of daily activities and tools of life and related factors in overweight and obese patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
    Material and Methods
This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed in 2018 with the participation of 84 patients who were candidates for coronary artery bypass graft surgery at Shahid Madani Hospital (Tabriz University of Medical Sciences). The relationship between obesity and overweight after surgery with daily activities in all patients was investigated and the results were reported.
    Results
LR logistic regression model. In this model, the dependent variable was considered as both independent and dependent (or in need of help) and then this model showed the variables of gender (P=0.004, OR=10.51, 15.41 - 2.15) and carotid artery involvement (P=0.01, OR=1.12, 0.79 - 1.19)
    Conclusion
The findings of this study showed that in the one-month postoperative phase, the study units, which consisted of obese or overweight people, were independent to carry out their daily activities of life, while they were instrumental in performing activities. In everyday life, most of them need help and dependence.

    Introduction
Given that there is currently no clear plan to fill patients' waiting times and no attention is paid to this period, the researchers decided to conduct a study on the relationship between preoperative waiting time and anxiety and vital signs in active patients. Candidate for general surgery to be the basis for further studies and proper planning for preoperative waiting time in surgical wards.
    Material and Methods
This study was a descriptive study that was conducted during 2018 with the participation of 100 patients undergoing elective surgery (laparotomy and laparoscopy) in Imam Reza Hospital (Tabriz University of Medical Sciences). The waiting time for surgery and its relationship with patients' anxiety (Spielberger Anxiety Inventory) were assessed.
    Results
There was a statistically significant relationship between the type of surgery and anxiety (p=0.001), meaning that the number of people who were candidates for laparoscopic surgery was higher than the hernia and laparotomy surgery groups. Using correlation tests, it was found that there is no statistically significant relationship between age and anxiety (p=0.071)
    Conclusion
The results of the present study showed anxiety in all samples of the study before surgery and there was a statistically significant relationship between the time before surgery and patients' anxiety.

    Introduction
Surgery in areas that have many arteries, such as the chest and larynx, can lead to arterial thrombosis; Since arterial thrombosis following thyroidectomy may lead to the death of the patient, we decided to conduct the present study with the aim of arterial thrombosis following total thyroidectomy.
    Material and Methods
This cross-sectional descriptive study was performed during 2020 with the participation of all patients who were candidates for total thyroidectomy. Patients were evaluated for symptoms of arterial thrombosis after surgery (for 50 hours) and the prevalence of arterial thrombosis was confirmed by clinical signs and ultrasound.
    Results
Five patients with symptoms of arterial thrombosis were observed who initially had symptoms such as pain and swelling in the operated area, redness in the operated area and swelling in the face; Meanwhile, cyanosis and local discoloration in the neck area were also observed in all patients. Ultrasound was performed for all patients and the results of ultrasound showed that all 5 patients had arterial thrombosis. All patients were diagnosed within the second 24 hours.
    Conclusion
Arterial thrombosis after thyroidectomy is a rare complication characterized by pain and inflammation; Total thyroidectomy due to the nature of surgery can increase the risk of arterial thrombosis.

    Introduction
Studies by previous researchers have shown the effect of ginger in the treatment of nausea and vomiting after cesarean section. Following ginger consumption, no cases of miscarriage or increased congenital defects and maternal complications have been observed. Due to the high prevalence of this complication and the reluctance of pregnant women to use chemical drugs, the present study was conducted to compare the effect of ginger capsules, vitamin B6 and placebo in the treatment of nausea and vomiting after cesarean section in pregnant women in Tabriz.
    Material and Methods
A total of 120 women selected for cesarean section with a history of nausea in pregnancy were included in this study; From one week before the start of the cesarean section until after the cesarean section, the participants were given two drugs of ginger capsule and vitamin B6 tablets and the incidence of nausea and vomiting after the cesarean section was compared between them.
    Results
The results of ANOVA test for vomiting frequency and Kruskal-Wallis test for nausea during treatment days showed that there was no significant difference between the three groups; However, in the placebo group, the severity of nausea was higher during the treatment days than those receiving ginger and vitamin B6.
    Conclusion
The results of this study indicate the effect of ginger on cesarean section nausea and vomiting. The severity and frequency of nausea and vomiting were significantly reduced with the use of ginger capsules.

    Introduction
Although the VATS pleural drainage and decortication have been proven to be effective treatments in the early stages of empyema. the optimal timing of VATS is still not clear .To assess the effectiveness of early VATS, this study was conducted to examine patients undergoing decortication.
    Methods
Patients with empyema were treated with VATS and open decortication in Imam Khomeiny Hospital from October 2014 to October 2017. Fourty four patients were divided into 3 groups based on the interval between the onset of chest symptoms and the time of operation. The first group consisted of patients with symptoms beggeinng from less than 2 weeks ago, the second group were the patients with 2 to 4 weeks of symptoms and the third were those with symptoms for more than 4 weeks. Data were collected using a checklist and analyzed by SPSS software.
    Results
Groups 1 and 2 showed shorter chest tube duration, postoperative hospital stay, surgical procedure time than group 3.
    Conclusion
Patients with symptom durations of less than 4 weeks showed better results than those with symptom durations greater than 4 weeks. Thus, symptom duration can be considered a reliable preoperative factor in deciding the surgical management of empyema.
