Age and sex patterns of deaths due to cardiovascular diseases in Kerman province

Abstract:
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the most important causes of death in the world and are predicted to be the most important causes of death in the world by 2020. The aim of the present study is to determine the age and sex patterns of mortality rates due to cardiovascular diseases in Kerman province. In this descriptive study, all the CVDs death registered during 2004-2005 of Kerman province was collected. The 2006 Census population data was used to calculate the corresponding mortality rates. Total mortality rates due to cardiovascular diseases have been increasing during this period of two years. The observed pattern is alike for males and females separately، nevertheless، the mortality rates are higher in males compared with females. Furthermore، by aging the percentages of CVDs mortality is also increased. It is absolutely crucial to prevent the occurrence of CVDs and its corresponding deaths within Kerman province by providing people with the necessary information and also by establishing the relevant preventive programs.
