The Survey of Social Capital Status among Faculty Members of Health School of Ahvaz jundishapur University of Medical Sciences: 2011

Abstract:

Nowadays, the development of any society depends on the levels of social capital in its active organizations and institutions that many resources are involved in making this capital. Among these resources, universities can promote the knowledge, skills and competencies of their faculty members by investing in social capital. This study was aimed at surveying the social capital status in all faculty members employed at Health Faculty of Ahvaz Jundishapur University Medical Sciences (N=35). Data were collected by using questionnaire and analyzed by descriptive statistics and T-test in SPSS. Findings showed that among the components of social capital, empathy and helping were in good condition, Component of trust was in upper-middle and the cooperation and solidarity were in middle and finally social network was in poor condition between faculty members of Health School. So promotion of social capital concept can raise job satisfaction and motivation of faculty members and improve the effectiveness of training process.
