Studying the elements of strategic planning in order to provide conceptual and practical model for small industrial companies

This paper aims to review the literature in order to propose a conceptual model for strategic planning process and to examine the applicability of this model. This research is done in four industrial estates in Khorasan - Razavi province. The statistical population includes top managers of the companies who were actively involved in strategic planning of their company. Structural Equation Model (SEM), Lisrel and SPSS software are used to analyze the gathered data. The results indicate that two significant paths have been ignored in the initial proposed model. Thus, adding these two paths leads to an applicable model for strategic planning process in small-sized companies. The results also show that 70 percent of the considered companies benefit from integrated plans. An important finding is that there is a significant linear relationship between the intensity of strategic planning and environmental change.
