The Characteristics of Philosophical Theology School in the Shiite Theology (With an Approach to Lāhījī's Works)

The philosophical theology is one of the most important schools in the Shiite kalām. It was founded by Nasīr al-din al-Tūsī in the seventh century of Hijrah and developed by his followers including al-hillī (726 A.H) and Lāhījī (1072 A.H) insofar as it became soon the prevailing tradition among Shiite theologians. Having defined the philosophical theology, the authors in the present paper sought to determine the characteristics of philosophical theology school; included taking full advantage of Islamic philosophical principles, rules and terms in favor of explaining the theological issues and problems, through structural and textual analyses of Lāhījī’s theological writings.
