Assessment of " METANET" Traffic Flow Model and Estimate Model Parameters for Tehran Highways

Nowadays application of intelligent transportations systems (ITS) are attendant as a new approach to solving transportation problems. These systems need accurate studding. One of the basic requirements for design of intelligent transportation systems is traffic flow modeling. One can inform impact of changes through traffic flow modeling. Hence, in this paper, ‘METANET’ traffic flow model introduced. This model has been used in different systems like variable speed limits and ramp metering. For evaluating this model, flow and density of 5 different highways in Tehran has been used. Then 4 parameters of model estimated in the SPSS software. The results show that the METANET flow model consistent with these highways data.
