Life Skills among High School Students in Takab City

The present research has been performed to study high school student’s level of life skills in takab town. The research was conducted by use of descriptive-navigational method. Statistical population for the study consisted of all 2293 high school students in Takab، from which a sample size of 300 students were chosen through multistage cluster sampling. The measuring instruments were life skills standards including problem solving، empathy، creative thinking، decision making، coping with stress، coping with emotions، critical thinking، effective communication، self- awareness، interpersonal relationship. The reliability of the instrument was confirmed by Cronbach''s alpha coefficient at 0. 90. Data analysis was accomplished in two levels of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (T test for a single mean، t test for independent، analysis of variance، and F test). Findings showed that high school students'' life skills were less than average. The highest level of life skill was found in such components as decision making and the lowest level in creative thinking skill among students. There is a significant difference between female and male student’s creative thinking skill level and coping with stress. Life skill level has a significant difference among various educational levels، in all components except creative thinking skill.
