Causal Modeling of Everyday Life Music Using based on Personality Traits and Creativity

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to examin the relationship of personality traits and creativity with «everyday life music using». The research population were undergraduate students of Khalij Fars University. Three hundred of these students were included in this study via cluster random sampling method. Chamorro-Premuzic & Furnham Music Questionnaire، Gough Creative Personality Scale، and Neuroticism، Extraversion، and Openness to Experience subscales of NEO Five-Factor Inventory were used for data collection. Structural equation modeling method (path analysis) was used for data analysis. The results indicated that individuals higher in Neuroticism were more likely to use music for emotional regulation (influencing their mood states)، those higher in Extraversion were more likely to use music as a background to other activities، and those higher in Openness to Experience were more likely to use music in a cognitive or intellectual way. As predicted، creativity was linked to cognitive use of music: Also، creativity affected music use in cognitive or intellectual way via Openness to Experience. Finaly، The results indicated that personality traits and creativity are determinants of uses of music in everyday life
