Spatial analysis and site selection residential centers in the historical cities: A case study: Shiraz Hotels

Tourism forms a major part of the world economy and it is one of the biggest industries in the world. During the last decades, the importance of tourism has increased internationally both in respects to the number of the tourists and in respect to the country's income. This improvement has been distinguished. One of the main factors attracting the international and internal tourists is associated to the equipment of this industry. Among these equipment, residential centers, as the origin and the end of the daily Circulation in cites are of great importance. Therefore, having an ideal distribution and a correct location of them is of a high importance, as the correct location of them lend to the satisfaction of the tourists and improvement of tourism industry and the economical growth and increasing income. Research method of the present study has been descriptive analysis and the necessary data are collected through observations, interviews, and the review of the designs of Shiraz city and 1/2000 maps obtained from this city. Shiraz is selected in the present study as a case study because it includes various tourism centers. Then the conditions of the hotels of this city are surveyed based on GIS. After finding the inappropriate distribution of hotels and lack of them, suitable sites for establishing new hotels in this city are locates based on AHP model through applying these in GIS software sites.
