Abstract:

In this paper following a short excursion into the history of the evolution of the concept of amateur scientist to citizen-scientist, the main causes of renewal of the importance of this class of citizens in advancing scientific research will be briefly discussed and then some of the current projects in which citizen-scientists are involved will be introduced at some length. In the last part of the paper some suggestions, concerning the best ways for introducing and consolidating the idea of citizen-scientist in Iran, are made.
