Self-Regulation and its Relationship with Some of Instructional Concepts

Abstract:

There have been many studies conducted in order to identify the effective processes on the students’ academic achievement. Based on these researches, we can say that self-regulated learning will result in motivation and academic achievement of the student. Using this learning method, students will develop better learning habits for themselves and will reinforce their studying skills (Wolters, 2011). They can also use learning strategies in order to improve learning results, monitor their performances (Harris, Friedlander, saddler, Frizzelle & Graham, 2005) and evaluate their academic achievement (De bruin,Thiede, & Camp, 2011). Through a literaturereview on the previous researches, this article tries to define self-regulated learning and study its relation with the effective factors from different aspects. In this article, self-regulated components and its relation with the performance and self-effectiveness scales are studied and also it will discuss the relation of self-regulation with concepts of intelligence, social-economical situations and sex. At the end, it tries to propose strategies and guidelines for this concept.
