Study of the Effect of Engine Speed, Ambient Humidity and Temperature on a Compression Ignition Engine Performance

The thrust of ships often prepared with internal combustion engines specially with compression ignition engines. According to importance of compression ignition engines performanceT the effet of engine speed، ambient humidity and temperature on indicated power، indicated torque and specific fuel consumption of a compression ignition engine، with a one dimentional engine simulation tool، GT-Power، is studied. Results show increasing in power and torque and decreasing in specific fuel consumption. Power and torque decrease and specific fuel consumption increases with increasing of ambient temperature.
