A Study of Transformation of Linguistic Representation of Religion in the Works of Mohsen Makhmalbaf

In this essay، we study transformation of linguistic representation of religion in 41 scripts of Mohsen Makhmalbaf، in order to show changes in beliefs of the author during the years after the Islamic revolution. Ideational metafunction and naming of Halliday، ideological square of van Dijk، polyphony of Bakhtin، intertextuality of Kristeva and lexical values of Fairclough are the theories and the analytical instruments of this project. At the first periods، Makhmalbaf expresses principles of Islam، and Islam is given preference to communism and the west. Then he represents social and political problems of Iran after the revolution. Love is inserted in his scripts in 1368 and he gradually puts away supporting a special pole. Religion gradually becomes marginal and in return he comes to morals. Finally he reaches philosophy of love and life، Characters who are not sure about God and are searching for the reality through new spiritual experiences.
