Effect of phosphorus fertilizer integrated management on grain yield and its components in two fall forage barley cultivars

Message:
Abstract:
In order to investigate the role of phosphate solubilizing bacteria P.fluorescens on grain yield and its components in two forage barley cultivars, an experiment carried out at research farm of college of Agriculture of University of Tehran during 2009-2010. The experiment design consisted of three randomized complete blocks in a factorial arrangement. Investigated treatments consisted of the kind of phosphorus and cultivar. The phosphorus factor included of the application of triple super phosphate fertilizer and without seed inoculation, without triple super phosphate fertilizer and without seed inoculation (control), seed inoculation and with application of 100% P recommended, seed inoculation and with application of 75% P recommended, seed inoculation and with application of 50% P recommended, and cultivar factor included of Fasih and CB744. In this research were evaluated characteristics including plant height, number of leaf in plant, dried weight of leaf, dried weight of stem, dried weight of leaf/dried weight of stem, number of tiller in plant, number of fertile tiller in plant, number of grain in spike, 1000-grain weight, spike height, seed yield, seed and plant tissue and soil available P. The application of triple super phosphate fertilizer and seed inoculation had the highest amount in the most of investigated characteristics as such number of leaf, number of tiller in plant, dried weight of leaf, dried weight of leaf/dried weight of stem in forage stage and also plant tissue P, number of tiller, number of fertile tiller in seed stage along with number of grain in spike, seed P, seed yield and soil available P. The present finding showed that phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms can interact positively in promoting plant growth, nutrient uptake especially P of maize plants, root colonization percentage increasing and consequently, root contact improvement with soil leading to plant yield improving.
