Making Sound Decision in selecting Military Strategies

Author(s):
Abstract:
All situations originating from a military operation are conflicting in nature. Each conflicting side makes any possible measure in order to deter the opposing side to succeed. Even making decision on weapon selection or how to use it in the field and making decision on strategy selection in general are conflicting in terms of situations. Any respective decision should be motivated by the assumption that the measures of the off passing side will be the worst of all. Hence making sound decisions under such circumstances would be the most rational one. Competitive strategies, a subcategory of decision making theory based on arithmetic theory, are always concerned with competitive situations, two states, political parties, economic groups or two persons opposing each other so that each can take advantages. Such an orientation paves the grounds for each competing side to make sound decision so as to fulfil its objectives. Rectangular competitions summed up zero are characterized by appropriate specifications in those kinds of competitions being encompassed by military fractions from both sides. In this study, mini-max principle was studied as a fundamental principle in the competitions which possesses standing point. Mixed strategy through introducing a probability vector. Algebraic and descriptive methods aimed at making sound decision in the competitions of the latter category and also those of 2×m or n×2 types were also investigated in this study. Implications of all of the approaches in military contexts have also been exemplified.
