Youth Leisure Pattems, Identity and Educational Style A Study about Shiraz Youth
The purpose of this paper is to examine different leisure style and their relationship to identity and educational style. Theories of Giddens and Bourdieu choose to be the framework. The population consists of young people of 29-19 years in Shiraz. 620 of them were selected using clustered random sampling and completed the questionnaire. The results indicate four leisure styles as body and health activities, having fun with friends and family, media style and religious style which men and singles are more active in them except for body and health style. The correlation results show that national, religious and gender identity have significant relations with styles of leisure but body and health. Educational style has been associated with religious style and body style. Cluster analysis showed two groups of respondents based on identities and socioeconomic status of families and lifestyles. The first cluster included 73.9 Percentage of respondents who have a strong religious identity and their socioeconomic status was lower and the percentage of women is higher in the cluster. The second cluster consists of 26.1 percent of the respondents that they have higher socioeconomic status and body style, media and entertainment pattern of leisure is more important for them and the percentage of male is more in the cluster. Relationships between identity and leisure styles in each cluster and the share of the socioeconomic status in these relationships have been investigated in this research.
