Violence in Print Media

Publication of events containing conflict in newspaper pages causes excitement and even gives rise to feelings of sympathy or wrath in readers. Covering reports on war, earthquake, homicide and even disclosure of secret state documents not only attracts the audience but also can increase the number of fans of a newspaper or a publication. One cannot imagine an end to violence since it appears in different shapes. From past until now, the mankind has lived with violence and perhaps it is due to this continuation and sometimes change in its method that violence is paid little attention to in research studies. Surveys mainly address impacts of new media in emergence of violence and are mostly within the framework of case studies. That how violence has entered newspapers and how the print media deal with it, is not seen that much. This paper intends to review violence, the trend of its entrance into the print media, theories in this respect and transformation of violence within the past several decades.
