Factors affecting the adoption of Electronic Information Resources (EIR) by Iranian knowledge and Information science faculty members, based on Roger's Diffusion of Innovation Theory

Message:
Abstract:
Purpose
The aim of this study was to identify Factors affecting the adoption of electronic information resources (EIR) by Iranian Knowledge and Information Science (KIS) faculty members.
Methodology
A descriptive survey method was used as the research method.Findings/
Results
The exploratory factor analysis showed that most important characteristics of electronic information resources (EIR) which can be effective in adopting electronic information resources were ―relative advantage‖, ―trialability‖, ―compatibility‖, ―complexity‖, ―observability‖, and ―opportunity of test‖. Further, the findings of Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the above six characteristics of EIR and adoption rate. The result of multiple regression analysis showed that the characteristics of ―observability‖, ―opportunity of test‖ and ―age‖, were significant predictors for the adoption of EIR, which in total; explain 21 percent variance of the dependent variable. This study confirmed The Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovation Theory (2113) in context of perceived characteristics of EIR, among faculty members in departments of knowledge and Information science in Iran.
