Effect of a soccer competition on salivary IgA, flow rate, total protein and s-IgA/ Pro ratio responses in male soccer players

Message:
Abstract:
Background and
Purpose
would support a view that intense physical activity to cause suppression mucosal immune system athletes. The purpose of this study was to determine effect of single bout of soccer on salivary IgA and total protein responses in male soccer players.
Methodology
In this investigation participants Twenty two soccer male players of league three in Iran with (age 21±2 yr,BMI 24.6± 2.1 kg/m2,VO2max 51.1 ±3.3 ml.kg-1. min) Before, immediately and 24 hours post-exercise, salivary samples were collected. Data were statistically analyzed by Shapiro wilk-test, bonfferoni test and one way ANOVA.
Results
The results showed that single match soccer increases salivary IgA concentration, Total protein levels and decrease s-IgA/Pro ratio and flow rate (P<0.05) significantly, but had no effect on salivary IgA secretion rate (P<0.05).
Discussion
Findings of this study indicate despite decrease salivary flow rate, a single soccer match caused non significantly reducing of IgA secretion rate, lead to not suppression mucosal immune performance.
