Comparative overview of the status of Iran's packaging industry with several other countries

The packaging industry by promoting the production capability has an important role in the development of different economic sectors. Empowerment of packaging industry increases the competitiveness of other economic sectors. On the other hand, packaging industry has an important role in increasing the national income and employment. These factors cause the governments to pay special attention to this industry in many countries. Governments try to develop this industry, while increasing global market share of the packaging industry; can also improve the competitiveness of other economic sectors. The main goal of this paper is the comparative study of Iranian packaging industry with selected countries. First, the concept of packaging industry has been explained. Then, quantitative and qualitative situation of packaging industry in Iran has been described. Finally, according to the packaging industry in Iran with regard to global trends, recommendations are presented to develope this industry.
