Phenomenological investigation of the factors of tendency to addiction and predisposing factors for its treatment from recovered addict's view

This study aims to investigate recovered addicts’ view on the factors for tendency to addiction and predisposing factors for its successful treatment. This study is qualitative using Phenomenology method. For this purpose, unstructured interviews with 10 recovered addicts at the age range of 24-49 years old were conducted through which the addicts mentioned their experience about this phenomenon.Three results were achieved from the findings regarding recovered addicts’ view on the reasons for tendency to addiction and predisposing factors for its successful treatment.They included personal reasons for addiction, social reasons for tendency to addiction, and hatred toward present life status.Findings of this study offer a vivid picture of people’s tendency to addiction and predisposing factors for its successful treatment. The lack of personal consistency, supremacy–seeking feeling, tendency to hedonism, the lack of basic life skills, curiosity, false pleasure feeling after drug usage, improper environmental conditions, and unsuitable treatment of family members with them were the most important factors of people’ s tendency to addiction and its consistency. Hatred toward present status was the most important factor in treating addicts.
