Mapping the knowledge and skills of Librarians of the University of Isfahan

This research aims to mapping the knowledge and skills of Librarians of the University of Isfahan. The research method is descriptive survey study. In this study the society consists of 67 librarians in University of Isfahan, and the total number of society were studied. The data collection was based on questionnaire and check-list and analysis was performed using rank and job classification, and knowledge map. The findings showed that Knowledge and skills of specialized librarians in the areas of collection development, cataloging and classification, recording and preparation of resources, circulation, reference, communication skills, management, information technology, planning library of buildings and equipment, and professional ethics desirable. University of Isfahan has expert team in the areas of collection development, cataloging, recording and preparation of resources, circulation, reference, education and research, communication skills, information technology, and professional ethics. Needs of librarians include information technology, indexing, abstracting, Scientometrics, management, education and research, and planning library of buildings and equipment
