Relationship between the components of emotional intelligence and marital satisfaction in academic staff of Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences

In today's world, MS (marital satisfaction) is diminishing. However, people attitudes to life, and communications, can increase satisfaction. This study was aimed to evaluate relation of EQ (emotional intelligence) and MS in the academic staff of Rafsanjan University of Medical sciences. Research population included all faculty members in rafsanjan university of medical sciences, which 122 subjects completed Bar-On and Enrich questionnaires and data were analyzed with Pearson's and Spearman correlation coefficients and T test. MS in this study was 68% and the average score of EQ 337. Overall, EQ and MS were not associated with sex and age. Among the different dimensions MS, relationship between interpersonal relations and empathy with the gender was statistically significant. Among the various dimensions of EQ, only the responsibility had a significant relationship with gender. Total score of EQ and MS, were not significantly correlated with sex. All components of EQ and MS had a significant relationship with each other. 37% of marital satisfaction could be predicted by emotional intelligence. Due to the high relationship between EQ and MS, these findings recommended that responsible organizations for national education required to training more skills to increase EQ until improve marital relationships and more strength to the family.
