Viewpoints of academic advisors of Rafsanjan university of Medical Sciences regarding counseling and their duties as advisor

Abstract:
Background And Objective
Counseling as an effective parameter can be used to solve many student issues. Counseling techniques can be used to overcome problems arising from the use prevent academic failure. One of the most effective solutions for a consult is interest and performance of adviser. The aim of this study was to determine teachers ' attitudes and faculty adviser, their duties toward counseling and supervising students in Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences.
Material And Methods
In this cross-sectional study we enrolled 90 academic members of Rafsanjan university of medical sciences and their attitudes were assessed via questionnaire. Reliability and validity of the questionnaire (were approved in previous studies). The collected data w ere analyzed by spss version 18 and chi-square, Fisher test and the significant level of P <0.05 was considered significant.
Results
In this study, 43.47 % of participating teachers were male.The academic rank of participants were instructor (65 %), assistant professor (13 %), 13% instructor teaching and associate professor (4.5 %). 100% females had positive attitude about counseling students and 81.8% male teachers had positive viewpoint. This difference was statically significant (p<0.05).
Conclusion
Considering positive viewpoint of most faculty teachers in this study about counseling students, state official of Medical Universities should give more serious consider to use faculty members for student counseling.
