An Introduction to Schwab and the Practical

Schwab is undoubtedly an influential curriculum thinker who is not very well known in this country. Some of the expressed views also، are problematic and signal misconceptions. Of course، part of this difficulty is due to complexities that surround Schwab’s ideas which require extensive mental investment to be deeply understood. Another reason for the expression of inaccurate views about Schwab is that his theoretical rivals have exercises whatever was needed to cover up his originality. Whether Schwab’s ideas will win popularity in the Iranian context or otherwise، understanding his views is a professional necessity and an exigency for the development of the field. The author، therefore، is trying to pay his dues in this respect. This article is the author’s second attempt which takes place after the first article was published about a decade ago. The inspiration for writing this article came from the questions and uncertainties which I think culminate in misconceptions and the unacceptable disregard of proposals set forth by Schwab. Sections comprising this article are: Schwab number one and number two، the relationship between Practical and Theoretical، Schwab’s relation to different estanblished views in curriculum field. Finally، the author argues in favor of a reading that puts Schwab in the place of a paradighm presenter which condones idealism of a particular type.
