From discipline-oriented to practical-oriented: an overview of the evolution of Schwab's Thoughts

One way to get a better understanding of thoughts and ideas of a scientific expert، is investigating his/her opinions in a historical context. Throughout history، there were many theorists who have changed their positions because of facing new orientations and seeing the results of their previous ideas. So، when researchers discuss views of those thinkers، it is essential to consider the date of their ideas. This article aims to review the historical development of the ideas of Joseph Schwab، one of the leading figures in the professional field of curriculum، thereby leading to a better understanding of his ideas and perspectives. Aaccordingly، two main perspectives of Schwab- the discipline perspective and practical perspective in curriculum field- are discussed. At the end، the summary and conclusions of this study are discussed.
