Attitude of the Nurses of Kashan Educational Hospitals toward Workplace Safety climate in 2014

Nursing is a dangerous job and addressing the safety concern of the nurses is necessary. Assessing the safety climate is one of the assessing methods for safety situation. Safety climate is a multi-dimensions factor that describes how the employees share perceptions toward safety. The aim of this study was to survey the safety climate and its structural factors among the educating hospital's nursing staff. This descriptive analytical and census study was conducted among the 480 nursing staff of 6 educating hospital in Kashan Iran during 2014. Demographic information and mental workload data were gathered using demographic information questionnaire and nurse safety climate questionnaire respectively. The data were analyzed by using spssv16 software. t-test, one way ANOVA and Pierson correlation confession analytical tests. Nurse's communication (3.41) and error reporting (3.07) obtained the highest and the lowest scores respectively among the safety climate factors. Total safety climate score was estimated at 3.23. There was no significant relationship between safety climate and demographic characteristics but, there was a significant relationship between safety climate factors (p<0.05). The results showed that the safety climate of studied nursing staff was not optimum and corrective actions for improvement of the safety climate is necessary. According to positive significant relationship between safety climate factors, Corrective actions in each field can influence safety climate effectively.
