Embedded Story and Its Functions

“Narrative in narrative” or “embedded story” is a structural technique that affects the meaning of the story; nevertheless the question is how such a structural and semantic connection occurs, and what might be the role of embedded narrative in main story? This article is an attempt to discover the possibilities embedding provides in order to develop plot and narrative. The functions of embedded narrative are divided into two main groups, namely semantic functions, and structural functions.
