Abstract:
In this survey 339 pre-university students were chosen from the city of Shiraz to examine the effect of parent's economic-social status on the level and aspects of the piety of their children. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were measured by face validity and Cronbach's alpha (0.71). The analysis of the findings shows that the respondents differ in the extent of their piety regarding the aspects of religious beliefs, faith, morality, worship and religious obligations. There is a meaningful relationship between parent's educational standard and their children's piety. When parent's income rises, the level of their children's piety falls. The kind of piety of children differs according to the different socio-economic status of their parents. In other words, at every level of socio-economic status, a particular aspect of piety is dominant; the higher the parent's socio-economic status, the lower the level of children’s piety.
