The statistical population of the present research comprised fertile and infertile women referred to Infertility Centers and gynecologist's private offices in Tehran in 2012. The research sample consisted of 100 infertile and 100 fertile women who were selected by available sampling method. Pines Marital Burnout Scale, Conner-Davidson Resilience Scale and religiosity assessment scale were used to gather data. Data analysis was carried out by SPSS software (version 16) using t-tests, Multivariable regression analyses and Pearson correlation coefficient.
Results
The results indicated that infertile women experienced higher levels of marital burnout compared to fertile cases (p> 0.01). There was a negative correlation between religiosity and resilience with marital burnout in infertile women (p<0.05). Also there was a negative relationship between religiosity and marital burnout in fertile women but no relationship between resilience and marital burnout was found in fertile women. The results of multiple regression analyses in the scores of infertile women indicated that religiosity and resilience can predict marital burnout inversely (p<0.05).
Conclusion
Based on these results it can be concluded that infertility affect marital burnout. Also the level of religiosity and resilience can reduce marital burnout in infertile women. Resilience components training and emphasis on increasing religiosity can help to reduce marital burnout.
