Reasons behind Changes in Consumption Culture of Satellite TV Networks Productions in Iran, with Emphasis on the Role of Social Capital

Abstract:
This paper deals with changes in Iranian citizens’ consumption culture and their inclination towards satellite TV networks; changes that have caused a considerable number of our countrypersons join the satellitemedia audience. One of these reasons is social changes that occurred in the recent decades in the country and the other is the rapid changes in the electronic arena and digital technology as well as complexities and vague understanding of the current situation by the elites and those making decisions in the country. In cases related, the role of social capital has been reviewed in this respect and at the end a conclusion has been drawn and suggestions have been made. Library and documentation method was applied to collect the needed data using books, publications, statistics, information and reports of state-run institutions such as Statistics Center of Iran, Central Bank of Iran, Islamic Parliament Research Center, and Center for Strategic Research. The paper used descriptive and analytical methodology.
