The Effect of Cognitive- Behavioral Group Training on Aggression and Sensation Seeking Rates among Female Martial Artists in the City of Amol
This study aimed to examine the effect of cognitive –behavioral group training on aggression and sensation seeking rates among female martial artists in Amol city. The research was experimental in the form of field study. The statistical population included all the 12-25 year-old female martial artists in Amol city during 2009-2010. From the eligible 40 persons were selected and randomly assigned into one control group (20 persons) and one experimental group (20 individuals). For data collection، Sensation Seeking Scale (Zuckerman، 1979) and Aggression Questionnaire (Buss & Perry، 1992) were used. The cognitive – behavioral group training program was administered in six 90-minute sessions، once a week، for the experimental group. At the end of the training program، posttest was conducted for both experimental and control groups. The results، by using multivariate ANCOVA، showed that the effect of cognitive–behavioral group training have been significant (P≤0. 0005). In other words، the cognitive–behavioral group training led to the reduction in aggression and sensation seeking rates in the experimental group، as compared with the control group.
