Supportive Health Insurance Aaround the world: Comparative Study of in Selected Countries

Abstract:
Introuduction: Health insurance (HI) is an important way to support the people in receiving health. Regarding the different experiences of different countries in this area, this study aimed to compare the supportive HI systems of the selected countries.
Methods
This comparative study. Research area included the HI models in some countries and Iran. The studied countries are USA, Paraguay, Britain, Sweden, France, Thailand, Australia, and Japan. These countries are selected based on Garden’s classification. The data analysis was in the aspects of policy making, planning, structure, and the basis for coverage.
Results
Findings of the study showed that the Ministries of Health had the stewardship and governance role for the HI. Planning is suggested to be in national and regional level. In most of the studied countries, there is a tendency to governmental HI. In issue of coverage equity and poor are important.
Conclusion
This study found that it is better that the stewardship of the HI lay in the Ministry of Health, planning be done in national and regional levels but implemented in regional level, structure is better to be governmental and take poverty as the basis for coverage.
